Liberty University Flight Training Affiliate Program participant flyGateway Aviation Institute ordered 20 single-engine Piper Pilot 100i instrument trainers to augment the mid-Atlantic-based flight school’s fleet of 30 aircraft.
The order will begin with 14 trainers scheduled for delivery in January. The remaining six Pilot 100i models will be delivered later in 2022. The IFR-capable Pilot 100i equipped with a Garmin G3X Touch avionics suite has a 2020 base price of $285,000.
The Part 141 career pilot training program was established in 2018 and has 35 flight instructors and more than 300 students in three Delaware and Pennsylvania locations. Expansion to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is expected soon.
The order was finalized during EAA AirVenture in July when the aircraft manufacturer also delivered a Piper Pilot 100i to the RedTail Flight Academy.
